Fetal echocardiography can help detect congenital heart abnormalities before birth. Heart defects are amongst most frequent congenital malformations. An early diagnosis allows for optimal monitoring of pregnancy and for optimum medical or surgical intervention during delivery and once the baby is born. Together with our cooperation partners (from the German Heart Center, Munich), it is our goal to examine and to inform affected couples in detail, and to provide optimum medical care for the newborn child.
With the help of specific echocardiography methods and additional ultrasound techniques such as color doppler, pulsed Doppler, M-Mode echocardiography and 3D scanning (STIC) it is possible to detect approximately 85% of all congenital heart defects.
